There never was. The moments no plan anticipated, however carefully drawn. A key leader departs. Growth outruns the way things have always worked. The board wants a plan. Two executives cannot be in the same room. You are being told everything is fine, and you do not believe it.
Maps are for settled ground, territory someone already surveyed. You are on the water. What you need is a chart, and charts get drawn by people who have taken the soundings.
We have. CharTed 0310 was founded by Nicole Anzuoni after fifteen years in the C-suite as Chief Legal Officer, Chief People Officer, and Chief Administrative Officer, steering one institution from 300 employees to more than 3,000. A for-profit-to-nonprofit conversion, a public bond offering, board and leadership transitions, regulatory scrutiny, a pandemic. Not advising from the outside. In the seat, accountable for what happened next. Today, CharTed advises founders, CEOs, and leadership teams at exactly these moments.
You have probably worked with smart advisors before. The insight landed, the room nodded, and six months later nothing had changed. We do not accept that outcome. This practice runs on a lawyer's discipline. Every voice in the room is actually heard. What is known is separated from what is assumed. Every engagement is driven to a decision that gets made, put in writing, and executed. Advice that never becomes a decision is just conversation.
We do not sell a methodology. There is no framework with a trademark, no binder that looks identical to the one on the last client's desk. If you want the off-the-shelf map, the big firms will be happy to sell you one. What you get here is a course charted for your company, your constraints, your moment, with people beside you who have crossed this water before.
You're not lost.
You're uncharted.
We do not arrive with a PowerPoint. We arrive with questions, and we listen to the answers, including the ones people are not quite offering.
Every engagement starts the same way. We learn your company before we form a view of it. What is actually known versus what everyone has been assuming because “that is the way we have always done things.” Where the real decision rights sit, as opposed to where the organizational chart says they sit. What each person in the room believes, and what it would take for them to say it out loud. Legal training builds a particular habit of mind, and it does not turn off: read the documents closely, read the room even more closely, and catch what others miss. The risk hiding inside the plan everyone loves. The disconnect between two executives who think they agree. The decision that looks clean today and gets expensive in a year.
Then we work toward a decision. Not alignment in the abstract. A decision, made by you, with every perspective genuinely heard first, because consensus built on people swallowing their objections does not survive contact with Monday morning. We make sure the concerns get aired. When the decision is made, we put it in writing, and we stay through the execution, as that is where most advice goes to die. It is where we do some of our best work.
Clients tend to notice two things about working with us. People open up. They tell us the truth, and they tell us early, because they can tell someone is actually listening. Our standards do not bend. We are patient with hard problems and honest confusion. We are not patient with laziness, spin, or hypocrisy. Our care is why people talk. Our rigor is why the insights go somewhere.
You make every decision. Our job is to make sure it is the best-informed decision you have ever made, and that it actually happens.
CharTed 0310 was founded by Nicole Anzuoni, who spent fifteen years inside one institution's entire growth story.
Nicole joined UMA Education as senior counsel when it was roughly 300 employees, 3,000 students, and two locations. She left the C-suite fifteen years later with the organization at more than 3,000 employees, 20,000 students, and seven locations — a $500 million national nonprofit. Along the way she served as General Counsel, Chief Legal & People Officer, Chief Administrative Officer, and Corporate Secretary.
She was not advising from the outside when the hard moments came. The conversion from for-profit to nonprofit. A public bond offering. Acquisitions, divestitures, and a real estate negotiation that saved more than $20 million. Multiple board and leadership transitions. Federal and state regulatory scrutiny. A pandemic that required the entire company to move to remote operations without a single day of interrupted service to students. And a culture turnaround that took a high-attrition organization to 85%+ employee engagement, a USA Today Top Workplaces Award, and Mental Health America's Platinum Bell Seal for Workplace Mental Health.
Before UMA, Nicole practiced corporate law at Morgan, Lewis & Bockius and Epstein Becker & Green, advising public and private companies on transactions, governance, and employment matters, and served in Massachusetts state government. She holds a J.D. from Georgetown and an A.B. in Government from Harvard. She grew up in Revere, Massachusetts, which is where she learned everything her degrees did not teach.
She founded CharTed because the moment she knows best, the uncharted one, is the moment most companies face without anyone beside them who has been there. CharTed exists so that a handful of clients at a time do not have to.
Nicole is available for select speaking engagements on leadership, governance, culture, and judgment in the age of AI.
Every course is charted to the client. You will not find a rate card or packages here, because the same map for everyone is exactly what CharTed exists to replace. Most engagements take one of three broad shapes.
A retainer relationship with a founder, CEO, or leadership team. The call you make first, before the decision hardens. Strategy, people, governance, negotiation, the problem you cannot quite name yet. We take a small number of these seats at a time, not as a scarcity pitch but because this kind of counsel only works when we know your business almost as well as you do.
Something happened. A key leader left, a function is failing, a dispute is escalating, the storm arrived. A defined engagement to stabilize what is at risk and protect what matters, and get you to calmer water with the decisions documented and the exposure understood.
A defined piece of work with a beginning and an end. Restructuring an organization. Building governance that will hold. Designing the people function as you scale. Working a complex problem through to a decision the whole leadership team can stand behind.
Every engagement begins with a conversation about your company, your moment, and whether we are the right people beside you for it. If we are not, we will say so, and we will usually know who is.
Tell us about your moment. Every engagement begins with a conversation, held in confidence, with no obligation on either side. Write a few lines about your company and what is in front of you, and we will respond within two business days.
